Duo-AM Synth Description

The Duo-AM Synth VST plugin was developed upon the concept of creating complex waveforms by dissolving two basic waveforms. Instead of just mixing the two basic oscillators, a third oscillator (called "the Rotor Oscillator") is used to control a crossfader that switches between them. This produces a variety of bizzare waveshapes with a very specific, "naughty" character. Some other options are provided to further manipulate the waveshape. PlugIn parameters: Oscillators section: Here you can choose your two basic waveshapes, and transpose each oscillator individually. White and Pink Noise waveshapes are non pitched, so the transpose sliders would not affect them. Rotor Oscillator section: Here you define the waveshape of the rotor oscillator. Rotor waveshapes which are rich in harmonics would add harmonics to the overall sound, while sine and triangle waveshapes will sound smoother. You can also transpose the Rotor oscillator. Oscillators options section: Sync - While ON, the second oscillator is synced to the first one. In this situation transposing the second oscillator would change the colour of the sound while maintaining the same pitch as the first oscillator. Pulse width - controlls the pulse width of the two oscillators. The closer you are to zero the fuller and fatter the sound will be. If no oscillator is playing a pulse wave this slider will have no effect at all. Phase - this is a phase slider between osc 1 and 2. At the center position (zero) the oscillators are in the same phase (this is most distinct when "sync" is ON). At the extreem sides, the phase is 360 degrees (actually back to zero phase). DC manipulation - this option adds opposite DC value to the two oscillators. The audible effect is that of the sound "fattenning". This also adds more of the rotor oscillator waveshape's character to the overall sound. Amp EG section: This is a simple ADSR envelope to control the amplitude of the sound. Master section: Portamento - this controlls the speed of the portamento (e.g. sliding from note to note). At zero value portamento is off. Monophonic - ON makes the duo-am synth monophonic (good for leads/basses and uses less CPU power). OFF makes the duo-am synth 6-voice poliphonic. Volume - the overall output volume of the duo-synth. Some settings will produce very loud sounds. Lowering the volume will output a decent sound without clipping.
