Desktop Color Picker is a lightweight and user-friendly piece of software designed specifically as a means of identifying any color from your desktop, an application's window or other areas that might interest you. The program is fairly simple to work with, but you should pay attention during the installation process, as Desktop Color Picker offers to install third-party components that it does not need in order to function properly. You can decide whether you want to install it as well, or simply click the 'Decline' button and the installation process will go on as it normal. Desktop Color Picker features a small window and a 'Picker' tool. By clicking on the tool, you can move it around and place it on any image or window you want and it will display the retrieved color in the assigned fields. Moreover, this software solution displays the value of the identified color in several distinct formats, namely 'RGB Hex', 'RGB HTML', 'RGB Dec' and 'COLORREF', so you can use whichever you need. Additionally, by clicking the arrow button on the right side of each field, Desktop Color Picker will copy the values to clipboard, allowing you to paste them in another application. This way, it spares you from having to type them by hand, particularly as this makes it more likely to make mistakes. While the program is very efficient in retrieving the correct color from just about any pixel you want, Desktop Color Picker is fairly limited in terms of functionality. You can only identify one color at a time; the previously picked values are not recorded in its memory, nor anywhere else, so you have to work with each item individually.
