DelEmpty Description

DelEmpty is a lightweight software solution developed to find and delete empty folders on your computer. You don’t have to be an experienced user to figure out how to take the most out of each feature, mostly thanks to the plain and simple GUI. First of all, users are required to input the drive they wish to scan, which can be either a fixed disk or a removable one. DelEmpty automatically starts the checking process once you input the location and the empty folders are displayed in the same window as they are found on the scanned disk. The process doesn’t take more than a few minutes, but this also depends on the drive capacity and the number of folders. The program runs on low resources, so the scanning task doesn’t hamper system performance at all. A very good thing about DelEmpty is that it displays a great amount of information in the main window, including file, folder and program count, size and path. If you wish to delete some of the items displayed in the results window, just select the target folders and hit the delete button. One major drawback is the lack of filters, which means that DelEmpty can even delete critical system folders. If you check the Windows drive for example, DelEmpty may also find some empty folders supposed to be used by the operating system and removing them might affect the overall computer stability. All in all, it’s just a basic piece of software that does nothing more than to look for empty folders and delete them with minimum effort. The lack of configuration options however may keep professional users away from the app. Reviewed by Bogdan Popa, last updated on May 22nd, 2012
