Born on October 13, 1980 in Glen Cove, New York, Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas began her music career when she released her debut album Ashanti, in 2002. She received great success with this release and sold over 7 million copies worldwide. In 2003 Douglas released her second album Chapter II the album was as successful as the last on selling 3 million copies worldwide. In 2003 Douglas released the album Ashanti's Christmas and in 2004 the album Concrete Rose and in 2005 Douglas released the album Collectables by Ashanti. Douglas has extended her talent to acting and has been in the movies Bride and Prejudice, Coach Carter, The Muppets' Wizard of Oz, John Tucker Must Die and Resident Evil: Extinction.
