Active Keyring Description

Active Keyring is a useful software application in charge of storing your important login detalis: user name and password. Login details for web sites and applications are stored in Active Keyring and protected with a single password. The data is encrypted and stored as an XML file on your local hard drive. When a password entry in the folder list is chosen, the username or password can be automatically placed in the Windows Clipboard for easy pasting into the login text fields of the web site or application. The username and password can be quickly copied by utilizing the icons next to the value. The XML file storing the passwords and accompanying data is encrypted with 168 bit security to prevent unauthorized access. Active Keyring will require a password that is chosen by the password list owner to display any data. If the computer is in a secure location such as a home office, the master password can be saved into the XML file utilizing a secondary encryption scheme tied to the computer. This allows easy access to password files without having to type in the master password each time the program is started, but prevents the password file from being opened on any other computer without knowledge of the master password.
