Ace Video Workshop Description

Ace Video Workshop is a program that you can use to encode video files between the AVI and MPG format. The interface of the application is simple and intuitive. Video tracks can be imported into the list by using the file browser only, since the "drag and drop" method is not supported. Batch processing is allowed. So, all you have to do is specify the output directory and format, in order to initiate the conversion process. In addition, you can configure video settings when it comes to the MPG output type (VCD, SVCD or DVD) and format (PAL or NTSC), codec, resolution and number of frames per second. Furthermore, you can extract audio (in the WAV or OGG format) and modify preferences regarding quality, as well as extract images (e.g. JPEG, BMP, PNG). On top of that, you can apply various output image effects, including flip, sharpen, soften, edge enhance, deinterlace and rotate, as well as change the interface skin. The video conversion software runs on a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, includes a step-by-step tutorial with snapshots and quickly encodes a video while preserving a fair image and sound quality. On the other hand, Ace Video Workshop doesn't let you configure audio settings (e.g. bit rate, channels, volume, sampling rate) and failed to encode an AVI file to MPG during our tests. We recommend this tool with reservations. Reviewed by Elena Opris, last updated on May 30th, 2012
