The interface of the program is based on a simplistic window in which you can import media files by using the file browser only, since the "drag and drop" method is not supported (and neither is batch processing). Once you specify the output directory and file extension, you can proceed with the encoding process. In addition, you can view file properties, as well as modify audio and video parameters when it comes to the frame rate, codec, format and channels. Settings can be restored to their default values at any time. The straightforward video conversion tool takes up a moderate amount of system resources, includes a well-drawn help file with snapshots for novices, quickly finishes a task and manages to keep a good image and sound quality. On the other hand, AVI MPEG Video Converter failed a couple of jobs during our tests, including FLV-to-AVI conversions. Plus, the fact that batch processing is not permitted is a huge downside, along with the fact that you cannot modify program settings. We recommend AVI MPEG Video Converter with reservations.
