Boat Watch is a self-explanatory application that provides the necessary tools and features to locate, monitor and track various ships and boats from within a simple and intuitive interface. Thanks to Boat Watch you can spot sailing boats, tankers, high speed crafts, military and diving ops, fishing boats, search and rescue units and SAR aircrafts on an animated map. The displayed information is constantly updated in order to provide the most accurate data. What is more, Boat Watch allows you to change the map mode from standard map to satellite view and hybrid map. You can also choose the type of measurement system you want to use and enable or disable the boat alerts by simply accessing the Preferences window. Boat Watch uses the Automatic Identification System (AIS) to help you find and locate any ship or boat in real time and view its position on a live map. AIS is an automatic tracking system installed on ships and used by vessel traffic services (VTS) to identify and locate ships by electronically exchanging data with other nearby vessels, satellites and AIS base stations. Hence, you can view the name, type and destination of all available vessels and set any vessel you like as your favorite in order to track it on the map. Unfortunately, you can set only one boat as you favorite, fact that makes tracking multiple ships more difficult. However, you can use the built-in search feature to find boats and places with just a few keystrokes. Boat Watch also enables its users to share boats on Twitter and Facebook or by email. Users can also set Boat Watch to display alert messages when you favorite boat departs or arrives. To sum up, Boat Watch is a practical and very easy-to-use application thanks to which you can keep track of your favorite boat and follow large ships across the world.
