Common, interactive, programmable environment and simple shell to connect and manipulate your favorite DB content The dbshell (dbsh) is simple, intuitive, interactive and programmable interface to access your favorite DB back-end (ORACLE, MySQL, Postgres, SQLite, etc.). dbsh provides simple shell and common, programmable and interactive environment to manipulate and connect to your favorite DB content. You don’t need to have fancy GUI interface when simple tasks can be accomplished in a few keystrokes.The dbshell (dbsh) is written in pure Python. It relies on Python DB-API to access underlying DB. But apart from direct access it is based on SQL layer which serves as a buffer between your environment and DB drivers. It “knows” how to access DB and perform actions. For that purpose we used SQLAlchemy the Python SQL toolkit and Object Relational Mapper that gives application developers the full power and flexibility of SQL. The underlying shell is based on IPython (Interactive Python) which suits all tasks transparently for end-users and developers.
