Ultra-portable robot programming system Robot Operating System is a free and open source development environment for building robotics applications. Think of ROS as an operating system for your robot. As compared to other frameworks (e.g., Player, CARMEN, Orca), ROS is designed specifically for the forthcoming generation of mobile manipulation platforms.
