Pan2Applic Description

Convert and compile PANGAEA output files to other formats Pan2Applic is an open source utility for converting and compiling single files or folders of output files (ascii/tab-separated data files with or without metaheader) downloaded from the information system PANGAEA to other formats used by applications, e.g. for visualization or further processing. Pan2Applic may also be used to convert files or zip-archives as downloaded from CD-ROM data collections, published in the WDC-MARE Reports series.Pan2Applic is cross-platform and runs on the following operating systems: Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.Export formats supported by Pan2Applic are· Google Earth, see http://earth.google.com· Ocean Data View 4, oceanographic GIS, see http://odv.awi.de· ASCII/text for individual processing.· Shape file (ESRI)Pan2Applic output formats are mostly tab-delimited text-files with the extension *.txt or *.tab. The DOI as a reference to the source of the data may be included as an option. The user is requested to quote all references related to the original data when publishing new products resulting from a PANGAEA or CD data download and processing with Pan2Applic.
