Groovy Movin' Description

A small AppleScript that will move (not copy!) the audio files from one hard-drive to another Groovy Movin' is a small AppleScript that will move (not copy!) the audio files of some specified iTunes tracks from one hard-drive to another without iTunes losing touch and without losing any tracks data (like date added, ratings, comments etc.).This code was written to enable me to spread the audio files of my iTunes music collection across different hard-drives, so that only the best songs remain on the HD of my laptop, while the remainder resides on a much larger external drive. Since iTunes doesn't have such a function and since I couldn't find any solution to my problem on the web, I wrote this code. It's big, does some strange things, but it works for me. That's why I decided to share it with the world. So, Groovy Movin' will move (not copy!) the audio files of some specified tracks from one HD to another without iTunes loosing touch of it. (This way all tracks data - like date added, played count etc. - get preserved). However the code has to revert to a somewhat cumbersome manual-mode. Since iTunes copes well with audio files shifted around within one HD, as soon as one tries to move a file to a different HD it actually gets copied with iTunes still pointing to the original file. What Groovy Movin' does, is to duplicate the file of the specified track to the other HD, then it deletes the original file (the according iTunes track becomes offline at that stage) and then it manually reconnects the track to the duplicate file. It does so by using iTunes' built-in dialogs for reconnecting offline-tracks, thus, it pretends to be a user hitting the keyboard with a certain key combination. Admittedly this is quite strange and slow. But it works. I hope this works for you too.Requirements:· iTunes 7
