Chirp Description

Chirp is software for team and project collaboration Chirp team task management software transforms how you assign, track, and analyze the activities of teams you work with.Chirp is a group "dashboard" used by your entire team to coordinate information about task assignments, status information, and project issues and comments.Chirp is a tool that will become your central dashboard a console for getting a fast answer to the alwaysburning question: How's it goin?Requirements:· 36 MB of free disk space to perform installation (18 required postinstallation)· Java 1.4.2 or higher must be installed.Limitations:· 30 days trial period. What's New in This Release: · Handling dependent task dates. Previously, if a preceding task had no due date, the dependent task was active even if the preceding task was not completed. This is now changed so that the dependent task is not active until the preceding task is marked complete. · Handling preceding task dates. Previously, if a preceding task had a due date, and became due, the dependent task became active even if the preceding task was still incomplete. This behavior is now controllable via a preference setting. See Preferences > Operation > Activate dependent tasks.... · Preventing invalid start dates. Previously, it was possible to set a due date before the start date. Now, when this attempted, Chirp provides an error dialog when you attempt to save a task with this incorrect date arrangement. · New In box control. Previously, all tasks with updated status would appear in a user's In box - even if the update was not from a task where the user was an assignor or assignee. This is now controllable with a new Preference setting. See Preferences > Operation > Show recently updated.... Select whether you want to have the old behavior, or only have tasks where you are the assignor or assignee appear in your In box on status update. · More info in conflict dialog. Previously, if Chirp encountered a conflict when synchronizing, it would show the conflicting field data and the task ID. Now Chirp also shows the task name as well in order to provide more context during selection of which side (server or client) should be used to resolve the conflict. · Larger datasets supported. The default memory allocation for the JVM has been set higher. This does not actually allocate any more memory for most users; it merely raises the cap on the maximum number of data Chirp can keep in memory (for users with large data sets.) · Avoiding client project DB collisions. Chirp now checks during its first-run questions whether or not a pre-existing database (on the client) was created by the user running the first-use questions or not. If it finds a mismatch, Chirp will prompt for how to handle the old database, and provide several options. · 4699 - Auto restart after update fails on Windows in come cases. · 4729 - Priority change indication in status history puts incorrect label into status history (indicates "Project name," not priority change.) · 4746 - Status history change: show complete message on date change (show date where none was shown before). · 4916 - Expired license key warning needs changed to distinguish between trial license key warning and expiration of valid subscritions. · 4986 - Date due display in task list incorrect in European date format (date due is 1 day early when displaying in dd.mm.yyyy format). · 5130 - Provide subscription expiration warnings when date change is triggered from operating system. (E.g. do not only check on Chirp launch, in order to handle the case where Chirp runs for days without exiting during the days leading up to a subscription expiration.) · Known issues · 5182 - Percent complete display error. When a task is updated by using the "right-click" edit task popup, and then the user selects some % complete (e.g. 30%), then the user moves the focus to add some text in the comments, the 30% never shows up until the edit is saved. The drop box stays blank, even after selecting a percentage. The percentage selected is saved, and does show up after the save. (SWT bug; requires migration to new SWT version; subtle dependency prevents migration in this release.) · 4374 - Text display sometimes does not echo. Assume a user is typing within the View tab and is typing the name of a manual view. If the new name of the view is longer than a certain width, Chirp the subsequent typed text simply does not appear to the user as the user is typing the text. (The text is retained; when the user selects Enter, the complete name is shown, adding the scrollbar if needed.) In Windows, the text starts to scroll leftwards within the typing area as the name gets long. On OS X, the scrolling behavior is missing. (SWT issue again.) · 3272 - Task preview pane displays file drops. TaskPreview implemented as a HTML Browser control. Platform native browsers accept DND by default. So if user drop a file onto TaskPreview control, the control's contents changes to contents of the file. The file is not actually saved in the task; it is simply displayed in the preview while focus remains there. (SWT issue. Harmless.)
