xfce4-notifyd Description

xfce4-notifyd (previously known as notification-daemon-xfce) is an open source command-line software, a daemon, that runs in the background and displays a visual notification on the Xfce desktop environment. xfce4-notifyd is short for the Xfce Notify Daemon, and it is engineered to implement a server-side portion of the Freedesktop desktop notifications specification, but for Xfce. The daemon uses D-Bus and libnotify to pop up a notification bubble in one of the desktop’s corners (modifiable by the user) for applications that can send standard messages over D-Bus using the org.freedesktop.Notifications interface.
