Xtables-addons is the proclaimed successor to patch-o-matic(-ng). Xtables-addons is the proclaimed successor to patch-o-matic(-ng). The script contains extensions that were not accepted in the main Xtables package.Xtables-addons is different from patch-o-matic in that you do not have to patch or recompile either kernel or Xtables (iptables). But please see the INSTALL file for the minimum requirements of this package.About XtablesThe Xtables userspace code is an ongoing development effort to bring new ideas to the iptables, ip6tables, arptables and ebtables userspace programs. It provides a lot of patches for new features in Linux kernels 2.6.25 that have not yet gone upstream into the official "iptables" package.Current status as of mid-April 2008: most things have been merged into the iptables repository. The next release (something after 1.4.0) will have the required pieces. For now, the "xtables-combined" package (see below in Resources) - if you prefer tarballs - contains everything needed. What's New in This Release: · This release adds a port knocking module and the missing userspace utilities for xt_ACCOUNT.
