Universal Media Server Description

Universal Media Server is an open source, fast, free and multi-platform graphical application written in the Java programming language and designed to act as an universal, DLNA-compliant UPnP media server. Being quite similar to the PS3 Media Server project, the Universal Media Server application supports streaming or transcoding of many different media formats with little to no configuration on all major platforms, including Linux, Windows and Mac OS X. In order to deliver a great and powerful media server, the project uses powerful and open source software, such as FFmpeg, MEncoder, AviSynth, tsMuxeR or MediaInfo.
