Spinn3r project is a web service for indexing the blogosphere. Spinn3r project is a web service for indexing the blogosphere. We provide raw access to every blog post being published - in real time. We provide the data and you can focus on building your application / mashup.Spinn3r handles all the difficult tasks of running a spider/crawler including spam prevention, language categorization, ping indexing, and trust ranking.This projects implements client bindings to access the Spinn3r web service. Right now this just provides Java bindings but we plan porting this implementation to Python, Perl, Ruby, etc (and we'd love help here).All of our drivers will be released under the Apache 2.0 license. The APL is a very liberal license and basically allows customers and researchers using the Spinn3r API to build whatever type of application they want on top of our platform without having to worry about legal and licensing implications.Another interesting property of this implementation is that it's very small - 1500 lines of code. This means ports to other languages should be very easy.This API will be included in Spinn3r 2.1 as a final release as there are only a few small features left to implement.How does it work?You focus on building your application and we give you raw access to our weblog index. Developers within your company just need to call our API every few seconds for the freshest news content.High AvailabilitySpinn3r is built on a fault tolerant infrastructure and monitored 24/7 to gaurantee 99.9% availability. Every component in our system is fully redundant with standby hardware already online in case of failure.We're also hosted in a state of the art datacenter with redundant power and three standby generators.Indexed in Real TimeSpinn3r is updated in real time. When we receive a ping from any of the major ping providers we go off and collect the content, index it, and make it available via our API.
