Socks via HTTP Description

Socks via HTTP provides a socks tunnel via HTTP. Socks via HTTP provides a socks tunnel via HTTP.Socks via HTTP is a program converting SOCKS requests into HTTP requests and tunnelling them through HTTP proxies if needed. The SOCKS protocol allows programs to traverse firewalls on any port number and is used by many popular programs, like Napster, MSN Messenger, CRT(telnet client) and many others. Many companies restrict firewall traversals only to HTTP requests, disabling SOCKS proxy. Socks via HTTP provides a miniature SOCKS server for the SOCKS client, performing its connection through an HTTP proxy to a remote server, which establishes the real connection. Socks via HTTP is 100% Java, and can run on any OS. It is entirely written in Java.Requirements:· This program is intended to use network services where normally you cannot because of firewalls and proxies.· As a consequence, you must know what a firewall and a proxy are, and how to use a traditionnal socks server.· Socks via HTTP is 100% Java, so you'd better know what Java is (or at least you need to know how to read man pages).· You need a "firewalled" computer (lets say the computer you use at work). This computer must have at least access· to WWW. (if you full access, why the hell are you reading this documentation ?).· You need a server located outside the firewalled area(lets say your computer with permanent connection at home,· thanks cable or xDSL). This server must have FULL ACCESS to the Internet. What's New in This Release:· This release features a new communication method between client and server (without serializing objects), a CRC check on the packets, a new, and more accurate HTTP traffic minimization method.· Aliases can be defined on the servlet names.· JHttpServer can now preload servlets on startup.· The ability to fill a list of servers in the client properties file was added (the client will use the first available one at run-time).· Parameters chosen by the client include on the fly compression and on the fly encryption.· A major bug that could make the client was fixed.· Some bugs in the Socks4 and Socks5 handlers were fixed.
