Flashdist Description

Flashdist is an embedded OpenBSD installer. Flashdist is an embedded OpenBSD installer. It will install OpenBSD onto any attached disk, IDE or USB CompactFlash adapter, hard disk or vnode pseudo disk device.It is designed to install a minimal version of OpenBSD with all of its advanced networking features. The flashdist installation is mounted read-only during normal operation, eliminating the need for frequent writes. This greatly reduces the potential for both boot failure due to a dirty filesystem and for flash corruption from repeated writes. The default distribution list, GENERIC kernel and the default flashdist rc fit within 32MB of RAM and 32MB of flash. This can be scaled down with adjustments. Flashdist will leave a large amount of free space on larger storage mediums which can be used for 3rd party software, data sets, or long term log rotation from the device itself.What's New in This Release:· This release adds a flag to flashdist that disables SSH private key generation. Use this flag in flashimgbld.· SSH key generation has been moved ahead of nsh execution (for current nsh.) In /etc/nshrc, sshd is active by default.· Outdated items have been removed from kernel configurations.· All disk images on the Web site now have SSH private keys removed (and will auto-generate on first boot.) What's New in This Release: · New flash images with route priority support (BGP/OSPF interplay) and a kernel config cleanup for OpenBSD 4.4/4.5.
